I was accosted by a Retired Police Officer who was keeping an eye on the Fairgrounds for the owner who is a friend of his. I was told that the parking lot is off limits for digging, even in the muddy, non-turfed areas. I was told to spread the word to any other treasure hunters, since I've seen a few other folks down there before. Saint Mary's Fairgrounds Parking = Off Limits.

Haven't been out for two weeks. The ground is right nice and moist ground helps find deep targets. Last coin found was a 1791 1reale. Friend gave up after he couldn't hear it anymore. Went back and found a really nice condition reale. And yes I gave it to him, because I wouldn't have look there if he hadn't beeped on it first. Jeremy stop back on Wednesday for a general chat session at 7pm every week. Thanks for stopping by. BH

Well the going is slow. I have a couple of great spots to hit, but they are old schools (that still are holding classes). So I will have to wait till this weekend. If it doesn't pan out, it will be a big hit against my gantlet of coins to find. Both schools are off the beaten path, and both are over 30years old. Wish me luck?

Ok I have started the "1000 Coins in 30 days" Gantlet. I also have created a web page with my status for each day. So everyone can see my accomplishment or my defeat. 2nd day and only 18 coins, ouch.

Ok, I am making a declaration: I am going to find more than a thousand coins within 30 days. Starting today 5/15/2011 and ending 6/15/2011. THE COINS CAN'T BE PENNIES EITHER. I am hoping to find 50 silver coins (pre 1965). I don't know about the silver coin quanity, but the 1000+ coins within 30 days is my goal. As I haven't been hunting this year too much, this is going to be a steep goal to meet. Wish me luck. the average will be 50 coins a day for at least 20 days out of 30. If I do not meet this goal I will be giving away a grab bag worth 50.00 to the first person to find a hidden treasure icon on my site. I will keep a running tally of quanity.

Had a good day in the field last Sunday, weather was great, and a good turn out from your club. We hunted some old farm fields here in Southern Maryland. We found alot of flat buttons, some musket balls, and alot of other old relics. We found 5 coins in all, and I found the only silver coins for the day a 1852 silver 3 cent piece, and a 1784 Spanish 1 reale. Both were in nice condition, the other coins were a buffalo nickle and two indian pennies. The other coins were well worn from the cemicals in the the fields. Still a great day, even saw two Bald Eagles(which I chalk up to a great day out).

Here are some coins I found at a school yard in Great Mills, Maryland. The school dates backs to the early 1940`s The two coins in the flips I found one day with about two(2)hours of detecting time, one is a 1951 silver quarter, the other is a 1945 silver quarter...that one I got with my digging tool!! Grrr. I found a variety of other clad, zinc, & copper coins not pictured. I went back a second day at about two(2)hours of dectecting time and I think I did alittle better, I found One(1) 1963 silver quarter (Still with alot of luster) in the same hole with the quarter I found a 1962 D dime. Just a few feet away I find another 1962 D dime. The other seven(7)coins are: 1957D, 1953D, 1952D, 1945, 1942, 1940, & a 1928 copper penny. With this find I also found a few Clad, zinc, & copper modern day coins. Not bad for a couple hours each day! Love the hobby! Keep Detecting!!

Went out panning for gold today East of Seattle, and then East of Granite Falls. I hit gold. Not alot, but every pan had at least 5+ specs (dust) in the bottom. I now have 4 buckets full of dirt to go thur. I am going to post a video with in the next 3 days, and pictures of the finds. I tried a secret that some old timer told me about, and it worked. Now I wished he was here to help me pan all the dirt. Oh well that is half the fun.

Glenn, Thank you, I am sorry for the quality of the pic. I am on the road and will post a better picture when I get home. It is a silver coin, so that rules out the cent and the farthing (I think) Some one looked at it and said if it has a 2R on it, would make it a 2 reale. And I seen that on it. So I probably will go with the 2 reale. But it is really hard to tell from this picture. Thank you for looking at the website.

I need help Identifying the larger coin in the picture. I thought it was a piece of eight, but now I don't know alittle too thin I think. Some one said a 4reale, or a large 2reale. Please advise if anyone knows. Thanks These were found in a friends backyard. TS

Thank you everyone, for checking out the Website. Hope it will be a hit. The Treasure in St. Mary's county Maryland, has been found. Congrads, and we will see how long the other two treasures take to find. The Maryland treasure was found by a young highly experienced detectorist, with a Garrett ACE 250. More information will be posted as it comes available. Thanks again to everyone.
